WordPress 2.7 And A Demo From Matt Mullenweg
Just a REALLY quick and short post from me today. You see I’ve just come accross a video from Matt, co-founder of WordPress, were he gives us a little demo of the new version which is due to be released/launched in November!
When I started this blog, I’m 99.9% sure that we were on version 2.4 – Now that just shows you how quick WordPress is evolving, and my blog isn’t even a year old actually I just spotted it is! – Just were do you think they will be in 5 years time, even 10 years?!
There are a few ‘big’ changes in this version, one of them being the fact you can have Threaded Comments. A few people had developed plugins for earlier versions, but WordPress is finally making it a default thing. From what I believe, you can decide if you do want this enabled, and/or decide WHO can actually use the ‘threaded’ part.
I guess all will be revealed when they launch the new version.
Enjoy the video!…
Upgrades are one of those love/hate things for me.
I anxiously anticipate the added features. They are all exciting.
But I get comfortable with the expected. I like auto pilot. It allows me to multi-task while doing some of the things that have become second nature.
Here comes the wonderful upgrade and I have to learn all over. Some of us aren’t as tech-oriented as you. Wonder if I can blame that on my age?

Looks great Mark! Can’t wait for it! WordPress has certainly grown on me, to think not too long ago I was frightened to death of it! Now I love it!
Colin
@ Carol – You’re right about the upgrades thing, while they need to be done so that you are kept upto date regarding security and any new feaatures, you really hate having to do it! – I just feel sorry for people who maybe have multiple blogs! LOL
@ Colin – It definately does look GREAT, and I for one can’t wait! I can’t wait for November to come, although WordPress Theme authors are going to have fun updating their code so that it’s compatible!
Speaking of which, I do and don’t want to update when I first spot the new version available. Because the comments system is changing completely, the old code that we have in comments.php won’t work. (I have tried to read up on it a little, but there isn’t much info out, or I’ve been looking in the wrong place!)
Thanks
Mark
Thanks for the link! Glad you enjoyed the video
@ Allen – No, I’d like to thank you for showing the video, along with taking the time out to come and comment on my blog! You are welcome back anytime you like!
Thanks
Mark
